MORE INFORMATION

Eligibility Clarifications

The eligibility conditions for the apprenticeship program are explicitly defined in the official notification. All candidates must ensure they have a valid degree from a recognized Indian university, issued on or after January 1, 2021. Those still pursuing their final semester or awaiting results are not eligible.

Moreover, candidates must be registered on the NATS portal (https://nats.education.gov.in) prior to applying. This portal is a government-run apprenticeship platform managed under the Ministry of Education. The NATS registration number is mandatory to proceed with the application.

Training Period & Work Environment

The 12-month training period will include on-the-job exposure to various banking operations, customer handling, digital platforms, and compliance protocols. Selected apprentices will be posted to branches/offices across their respective home states or preferred districts, as per the bank’s discretion.

Note: During the training, apprentices will be treated as trainees, not regular employees. As such, they are not eligible for benefits like PF, pension, gratuity, or promotion opportunities.

Reservation Policy

Central Bank of India strictly follows the Government of India’s reservation guidelines. As per the notification:

  • SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates must submit valid caste/community/income certificates.
  • PwBD candidates are eligible for horizontal reservation within their category (e.g., SC-PwBD, OBC-PwBD).
  • Women applicants who are widowed, divorced, or judicially separated and have not remarried may receive age relaxation – up to 35 years (GEN/EWS), 38 years (OBC), and 40 years (SC/ST).

It is also emphasized that OBC candidates under the creamy layer are not eligible for relaxation and must apply under General Category.

Examination & Language Test Details

The Online Written Exam, conducted by BFSI SSC, will be a computer-based test with no negative marking. The 60-minute paper assesses both general aptitude and basic banking/product awareness.

Candidates must also qualify in a Test of Local Language specific to the state they are applying for. This test checks proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the regional language listed in Annexure-II of the notification. Failure to pass this test will result in disqualification, even if the candidate clears the written exam.

Digital Apprenticeship Contract

Upon selection, the apprentice will be required to accept a digital contract issued via the NATS platform. This contract must be formally accepted within the deadline specified in the official communication sent via email (from BFSI SSC: info@bfsissc.com).

Conditions for Termination of Apprenticeship

As per the Apprentices Act, the apprenticeship contract may be terminated for:

  • Misconduct or absenteeism
  • Failure to report for training
  • Discrepancy in documents or qualification
  • Failure in local language test or document verification

Furthermore, apprentices are not allowed to form or join any union body during the training tenure.

Post-Apprenticeship Status

On completion of 12 months:

  • Apprentices will receive a completion certificate, issued through the BFSI SSC or NATS portal (subject to clearing all stages).
  • The engagement does not guarantee future employment in Central Bank of India or any other bank.
  • However, successful apprenticeship experience adds weightage for future recruitment exams in banking or financial sectors.
